There’s no question that coral reefs are just downright amazing to behold, and fortunate are those nature and wildlife photographers that actually get to visit the worlds reefs and bring home some absolutely amazing photos of reefscapes. Few are the home aquariums that can ever hope to compete with the sheer awesomeness of full blown coral reefs, even though some do look pretty incredible. But having a reef aquarium of ones own can actually be an incredible photo opportunity in itself.
Being a bit of a shutterbug I decided on a whim to whip out a camera and start snapping away. As always there was of course a fair amount of pictures that simply just didn’t turn out, but some of the footage I got actually turned out pretty good. My old Favia Brain Coral that’s been with since I was a saltwater newbie, and has endured all my learning mistakes over the past 9 years, was quite the willing subject.
I also managed to get some pretty good photo’s of several of my other colonies as well.
Going to an actual reef is great, but if you want to get really close and personal with corals, a reef aquarium is, in this humble author’s opinion, where it’s at! 😀
