So I stumbled into my aquarium room last night with flashlight in hand as I often do to check up on the denizens of the night, and as I looked into one of my 16 gallon reefs I was not at all prepared for what I was about to see.
Little larvae, swarming by the thousands!!!
During the day I was able to capture one of the tiny larvae and by cross-referring with “This Page” I was able to determine that my Dwarf Blue Legged Hermit Crabs(Clibanarius Tricolor) have spawned! 🙂
It is exciting to not just know that my hermit crabs breed in captivity, but to also witness a hatching event in the middle of the night!
Sadly these adorable little larvae will not survive. If the pumps and skimmer don’t get them, the literally “thousands” of hungry mouths belonging to corals in the aquarium, will.
